Edgerton’s Miller Park will grow a bit next year when the city acquires some land from a local church.
The Village Council approved the purchase Aug. 15. The village will pay $20,000 to the Church of Christ for the 4.49-acre parcel which abuts the park.
The closing will come on or before Feb. 15, 2017. The church needed the assurance so it could complete its parking lot project.
The money will be in next year’s budget.
In other news, the council approved the purchase of 2014 Ford Fusion for $14,600 for village use. The village will be accepting sealed bids at a later date for its older vehicle.
Scott Blue was appointed as part-time Fire Chief at $12,000 a year salary effective Sept. 1.
Dawn Fitzcharles and the future fiscal officer will be the representative and alternate for the AMP board.
The council approved the final reading of an ordinance setting the tax rates. The Inside mill levy will be 2.6 mills and is expected to raise $57, 158 for the general fund. The outside mill levy will be 2.0 mills and will bring in $43,205 for the 2006 Fire Levy.
The council declared an emergency and approved a supplemental appropriation ordinance.
The council also enacted a moratorium on cultivation, processing or retail sales of medical marijuana within the village. A new state law allowing it begins Sept. 8.
