Montpelier Chamber Of Commerce Talks About Business After Hours; Meets New Library Director

Montpelier Village Manager Kevin Brooks said the parts for the clock on Main and Jonesville streets are in and repairs are underway.

The Business After Hours was a huge success with more than 30 in attendance.

The village is working on grant funding for downtown businesses for exterior and interior renovating.

All village vehicles are in the process of switching to propane, which is energy efficient and will save a lot of money, Brooks said.

The Veterans Ball will be Nov. 11. Tickets are $50 each with all proceeds going to Williams County veterans and veterans’ charities.

Work is continuing on renovating the building on Empire Street so next year the chamber can have a ceremony to mark the events of Sept. 11, 2001.

Ministerial: Dave Tilly reminded members that the churches always need volunteers.

Library: Gloria Osburn will be retiring and she introduced new Director Connie Cunningham as her replacement.

Library and Park Dept. classes for hypertufa planting at 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., Sept. 24. The annual plant swap will be held that day at 10 a.m. Cunningham also told members the library will be partnering with the school by giving all students in grades 5-12 an electronic reader card, which can be used for school work or just for the pleasure of finding a book, music or video.

Old Business: No one won the drawing at Business After Hours so next month Oct. 5, it will be $200. Evergreen Manor will be sponsoring the event and Cookies on Demand will be hosting.

New Business:
Radio Advertisement Program with WBNO September sponsors will be Distinctive Roof and Evergreen Manor Nursing Home.

Tim Rausch State Farm had a ribbon cutting Sept. 2.

Titan Tire

Strong police force will be present during activities for Halloween Festivities in the village Oct. 29. The village and Chamber are working on a Ghost Walk for the same evening.

Chicken BBQ will be 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept.24.

Tickets for pre-sale dinners are $10 and the day of the event they will be $11.

The next meeting is 8 a.m., Friday, Oct. 14.
