PIONEER- Approximately 20 high school and junior high students, along with a handful of staff members assembled at 7:30 am on Wednesday, September 28th, outside the flag pole at North Central Elementary. You might ask why the students and staff members were gathering early on a school day? Were they participating in some type of protest? On the contrary, the group was meeting, along with a number estimated to be over 3 million strong, who were meeting all around the world to pray.

See You at the Pole began on September 12, 1990, as over 45,000 teenagers met at their school flagpoles in four different states to pray before the start of school. As word of the event spread over the next year, on September 11, 1991, an estimated 1 million students assembled at school flagpoles all over the United States. The gatherings varied in format. However, every group shared one common thread, to pray!

Twenty-six years later the event has become a world-wide gathering. That was the case at North Central as the students took turns praying.

The topics ranged from prayers for the school, families and friends, those with health issues, the upcoming elections, our country, and peace in the Middle East just to name a few.
