Evergreen Teacher Scores Well On Performance Assessment

An Evergreen teacher received special recognition for her achievement on an assessment of her performance.

Andrea Hesson scored well on the RESA (Resident Educator Summative Assessment). There were more than 5,700 teachers that were assessed with RESA over the past three years, and Hesson’s score ranked among the top 100.

The recognition came at the Oct. 24 school board meeting.

Superintendent Jim Wyse presented a letter of resignation for the purpose of retirement from Sue Lamour. The board accepted the retirement of Lamour. Her retirement becomes effective June 30, 2017.

Her counselor services for our high school students will be missed, Superintendent Wyse said.


The Board conducted the following business:
•Approved the following federal grant fund allocations for FY17 and amended resources and modify appropriations accordingly:

•Title III LEP (Limited English Proficiency) – $869.16 (administered through the ESC).

•Public Schools Connectivity Grant – FY17 – $5,400.


•Approved the Auxiliary Services Grant for FY17 for $95,694.21 to benefit Holy Trinity School, and approved an Auxiliary Services Agreement with Lucas County Educational Service Center for the 2016-2017 school year for Auxiliary Services personnel in the amount of $93,107.88, and a subsequent revision of $4,310.55 for a total of $88,797.33.

•Approved a program cost agreement for FY17 in the amount of $1,143.16 for regular Title I services provided to Holy Trinity School. These costs will be paid from FY17 Title I grant.

•Accepted the following donations:
1) Robert Tripp – $750 to the Tripp Family Scholarship Fund.


2) Anonymous Donation – $100 to the Student Assistance Fund.

•Offered the following supplemental contract for the 2016 – 17 school year, pending completion of all pupil activity requirements to:
Jared Walker, 7/8 Wrestling Coach
Betty Bieber, Assistant HS Bowling Coach (Boys and Girls)
Carrie Hansen, Freshman Girls Basketball Coach

•Approved the following volunteers for the 2016 –17 school year, pending completion of all pupil activity permit requirements:
Jared Evans 7/8 Wrestling Volunteer
Mason Kasefang 7/8 Wrestling Volunteer
Colleen Abbott Girls Volunteer Varsity Basketball Assistant

•Approved the following high school and junior high paid and volunteer event workers for the 2016-17 school year: Anastasia Baker, Rusty Carr, Haley Nowak and Janice Smith.

•Approved unpaid FMLA leave for Nicole Brock beginning Oct. 24 and continuing until her return to work Nov. 7.

•Accepted the low bid of $63,195 from Coyle Mechanical, Inc., Toledo, to replace Boiler 2 with a new condensing boiler at Evergreen Elementary School.


•Agreed to a time for public input for the 2017-2018 school calendar during time set aside for discussion at the Nov. 17 regular meeting.

Kraig Beilharz addressed the board regarding a competition facility for soccer.

Treasurer Denise Leu gave a Five-Year Forecast/Investment Report.

The next regular board meeting will be at 7 p.m. Nov. 17 in the Loren Pennington Learning Center. There will be time for public input for the 2017-2018 school calendar during the November meeting.
