In celebration of National Poetry Month in April, Pioneer Library will be holding a Blackout Poetry Contest. Teens and adults will be given a page cut out from a withdrawn paperback book. Then, using the words on the page, they will create a poem by blacking out, coloring, and using artistic talents to feature words that create a poem on the page. An example of Blackout Poetry can be seen at the Pioneer Branch Library.

The poems will be featured on the bulletin board at the library. Patrons will be able to vote for their favorite poem, and a prize will be awarded to the winner.
