Over 250 girls from Ohio and Michigan will convene at Biddle Park in Wauseon on June 16-18 for the 5th Annual Tomahawk Toss Fastpitch Softball Tournament. The tournament will be comprised of teams from the 10U, 12U, 14U, and 16U age divisions, with the champion of each division earning a bid to play in the ASA National Tournament later this summer. The tournament was created by the Wauseon Softball Board with the main purpose of raising money to finish construction on the four remaining softball fields at Biddle Park. “This would allow us to host more tournaments and provide more field availability for all the Wauseon softball teams to practice more and play more games”, said Roy Norman the current president of the Wauseon Softball Board. “The Wauseon Softball Board is looking to team up with the Wauseon Rotary and other partners to help finish those fields”, added Norman. Team entry fees and admission fees also help with funding Wauseon softball at all levels. Included in that is helping with player fees, player and coaching clinics, coaching certifications, equipment, and facility support.
Currently spring, summer, and fall softball seasons are offered with clinics held throughout the year. “There will be many Wauseon girls playing for their club teams during the weekend so we encourage Wauseon residents to come out and support them and watch some high level fastpitch softball and great competition amongst all the teams here”, Norman went on to add. Admission is $6 a day or a weekend pass can be purchased for $12. There will be a full concession stand available and also t-shirts will be available to purchase.
