(November 11, 1957): The Plaza Motel on the west side of U.S. 127/Ohio 15 south of Bryan opened for business.

The Plaza Motel was constructed by Mr. and Mrs. Ford Kinner and originally consisted of 16 units. In 1963 the Bryan Times reported, “The motel is set back from the highway to ensure quiet rest, and is shaped in the form of a horseshoe with a beautifully landscaped island in the center. The motel features central hot water heat and central air conditioning with individual controls in each unit, thereby affording each guest with just the right amount of heat or cooling to suit the individual needs.

The motel also has carpeting, television, room phones and coffee makers in each unit.” In 2001, the Plaza Motel was expanded by adding seven units and a customer convenience center with a washer and dryer, and also ice, pop and snack machines. This picture postcard featuring the Plaza Motel, postmarked in 1960, is from the Kevin Maynard collection–Courtesy of the Williams County, Ohio, Local History Exchange.
