WAUSEON, OH – Wauseon, Ohio’s Adam Lantz earned his second consecutive $1,000 Papa Boiler Dominator Super Stock Spectacular win, and third overall, Saturday night at Oakshade Raceway.
The 2003 winner, Jake Rendel, started on the pole of the 25-lap Papa Boiler Dominator Super Stock main event and led at the drop of the green flag. Craig Dippman, 2008 and 2011 Spectacular winner, was running second before spinning a few laps into the race, ending his night.
Another top five car retired early as Gabe Mueller, the 2021 Spectacular winner, gave up fourth on the track and headed to the pits on lap six.
Lantz started his march toward the front from starting inside row three. He got by Rendel for the lead on lap nine. With Lantz leading, Adam Noonan and Jake Rendel tangled in turn two on the final lap bringing out the caution that would set up a one lap race to the finish.
Jeff Foks Jr. took a peek to the high side in the final set of corners but could not get alongside Lantz who joins Gregg DeTray and Jeff Foks Jr. as the only three-time winners of the event.
Foks settled for second with Jarrett Rendel edging out Chane Stuckey for third. Cody Stetten finished fifth.
Rusty Smith looked dominant in the first half of the DCR Graphics Sportsman feature event, leading from the start after starting on the outside of the front row. A caution on lap 13 would set up a restart with Ryan Davis, who had been running second since lap two, right behind Smith.
The Weston, Michigan, driver jumped to the outside of Smith and made a power move right after the restart to take over the race lead by the completion of lap 14.
Another caution flag would fly with three laps to go. Smith restarted second behind Davis and would start to back slide through the top five over the final few laps.
Davis went on to pick up his seventh feature win of the year. Ian Palmer and Jesse Jones got by Smith to finish second and third respectively with Smith ending up fourth. Jeff Robertson rounded out the top five finishers.
It took several tries to get the Compact A Main going which was the final race of the night. Finally on the fourth attempt at a start, the green flag remained flying with Eric Carr showing the way. Nathan Goodman pestered Carr for the lead in the first part of the race, but Carr had him covered.
About halfway through the race, Holgate, Ohio’s Ryan Okuley passed a couple cars to move up to second.
Okuley began to put the pressure on Carr for the race lead, but Carr ended up falling off the pace with just two laps remaining which allowed Okuley to go on to his second consecutive A Main feature win.
Ken Wells, Jason Deshler, Gavin Stambaugh and James Stamper were the rest of the top five finishers.
Only two weeks of racing remain this season where ‘The FASTEST Meet To Race’. This coming Saturday, September 21 will be Trick Or Treat Night at Oakshade Raceway which will include a full show of DIRTcar UMP Late Models, DCR Graphics Sportsman (extra $100 add to purse from Main & Sons Plumbing, Heating & Cooling), Dominator Super Stocks and Compacts in action.
Make sure to bring candy to share and have the kids dress up for the Trick Or Treat events at intermission. Gates will open at 4pm with hot laps/qualifying at 6pm and racing at 7:15pm. Adult general admission is just $15, ages 6-11 are $5 and kids 5 and under are FREE! Pit passes are $25.
