STRYKER– Stryker High School held its 113th annual Alumni Banquet, honoring the classes of 1964, celebrating their 50th class anniversary, the class of 1989, celebrating their 25th anniversary, and the class of 2014, celebrating their graduation.

Members of 34 different graduating classes, spanning from all the way back to the 1930’s to 2014, all coming together to send the graduating class off in to the world, following the footsteps of those alumni who gathered to celebrate with them.

Members of the classes of 1964, 1989, and 1854 all introduced themselves, and were treated with a round of applause from the 200 alumni who had gathered. Some offered words of encouragement to the outgoing class of 2014, giving advice on what to expect in the future.

The class of 2014 consists of 33 students, and the alumni gathered had all worked throughout the year to help raise funds to donate towards scholarships for the class, in order to help further their education.

Each member of the graduating class who applied for these scholarships will receive at least a 300 dollar scholarship from the alumni association alone. All together, the Stryker class of 2014 will be receiving over 325,000 dollars worth of scholarship money to help them achieve their educational goals, an average of nearly 10,000 dollars per student.

“What makes our class stand out is the fact that we really enjoying being together” said Megan Neville, President of the class of 2014, “Whether it be a cookout, sports, or other extracurricular activities, we always enjoy each others company, and that is a special thing.”

Attending members of the Stryker High School class of 2014 introduced themselves to the crowd that had gathered, and told what their future plans are.

As the class of 2014 graduates, they will all look to live by their class motto, which reads “Do the best you can do in whatever you’re trying to do, and never give up. Success is not by chance, it’s by choice”.
