Andrew James Lichtenwald, 18, of Fayette, died unexpectedly Friday, April 7, 2017, in Seneca Township, MI, the result of a tragic off-road bike accident. He was born May 31, 1998, in Wauseon, OH, the son of Andrew L. Lichtenwald and Valerie C. Grime.

Andrew was currently enrolled as a Senior at Fayette Local School. In addition to his academics, he was employed by his family’s business, Borderline Express. He was a proud and active member of the Fayette FFA, and also belonged to the Fayette 4-H Country Club.

Remembered as an avid outdoorsman, Andrew enjoyed hunting and trapshooting. Known as “Full-Throttle Wide-Open,” one of his favorite outdoor passions was dirt biking, as well as fishing. He was skilled in working with his hands, especially in mechanics.

Surviving to mourn his loss, are his parents, Andrew Lichtenwald (and fiancée Tiffany Inman) of Fayette and Valerie Grime (and Jim Derby) of Morenci; siblings Alyssa and Aryn, both at home; maternal grandparents, James and Judy Grime of Wauseon; paternal grandparents, Ronald and Melody Lichtenwald of Fayette; paternal uncle, Doug (Alecia) Lichtenwald of Fayette; paternal aunt, Sarah (JR) Asbury of Fayette; several nieces and nephews; numerous great-aunts and great-uncles; and many extended family members.

Preceding him in death were his maternal great-grandparents, Lucille and Dale Grime; paternal great-grandparents, Larry and Mary Lou Wilson, and Doug and Irene Lichtenwald; two cousins, Shane Kunkle and Adam Lichtenwald; a maternal aunt, Patty Baumgartner; a paternal uncle, Al Lichtenwald; and a paternal aunt, Vicki Lichtenwald.

A funeral service for Andrew will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the Fayette Local School with Pastor Paul Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Union Cemetery in Fayette. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Tuesday afternoon, from 2-8, at the school. In his honor, the family suggests that those attending Andrew’s service please wear their favorite race gear or camouflage.

Arrangements are being handled by the Eagle Funeral Home in Fayette.
