Anna L. Carpenter

Anna-Lou-Carpenter-WEBAnna Lou Carpenter, 87, of Montpelier passed away early Thursday morning at Evergreen Manor Nursing Home in Montpelier.  She was born on January 28, 1928 in Piqua, Ohio to Walter Earl and Ossa Mae (Hixson) Kinnison.  Anna married Robert L. Carpenter on December 16, 1944 and he preceded her in death on January 16. 2008.

Anna was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Montpelier.  She worked at 50 Corp. in Bryan and then worked at Robinair in Montpelier for 30 years before retiring in 1990.  Anna delivered Meals on Wheels and was the treasurer of the Williams County Fair Foundation for a number of years.  She enjoyed rebuilding antique furniture, quilting, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Susan Jo (James) Collins of Louisville, Kentucky, Robert L. (Jamie) Carpenter, Jr. of Defiance and Sandra (Myron) Knapp of Montpelier; four grandchildren, four great grandchildren; one brother Earl M. (Louise) Kinnison of Stroh, Indiana; and one sister Marilyn D. “Susie” (Roy) Held of Edon, Ohio.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, four sisters, Emmadale Julien, Lelamae Newman, Rachel Keller and Grasia Kinnison, and three brothers John, James and Adrian Kinnison.

Visitation for Anna will be on Sunday, November 22nd from 12-4pm and Monday November 23rd from 10-11am at the Thompson Funeral Home on Main Street in Montpelier.  Services will be on Monday at 11am at the funeral home with Pastor Richard Blank to officiate.  Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery.


Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Women’s group or “A Kidney for Tonya” c/o St. Paul’s UMC.  Online condolences can be left for the family at www.thethompsonfuneralhome.com.
