The Archbold Board of Education met for the first time in 2024 for its annual Organizational Meeting on Monday, January 8 with Tyson Stuckey, Karen Beck, Skeat Hug, and Jeremy Hurst present.

The evening began with district Treasurer Joyce Kinsman administering the oath of office to Tyson Stuckey and Jeremy Hurst as both were elected to serve new terms in November of 2023.

After hearing nominations for officers, the Board elected Hurst to serve as president and Stuckey as vice president for the new year.

Board Member Karen Beck was appointed OSBA legislative liaison for 2024 while Skeat Hug was appointed OSBA student achievement liaison for the year.

The 2024 meeting schedule was then decided upon and approved.  The Board will be meeting monthly in the High School Media Center at 5:00 p.m. on the following dates unless otherwise specified: January 22, 2024; February 26, 2024; March 18, 2024; April 22, 2024; May 20, 2024; June 17, 2024 (4:30 pm); August 19, 2024 (4:30 pm); September 16, 2024; October 21, 2024; November 18, 2024; December 16, 2024; January 6, 2025 (Organizational Meeting).

In other business, the Board adopted the Consensus Agenda which outlined many housekeeping items for the new year including the establishment of the Board Service Fund in the amount of $5,000.

The resolution authorizes the district treasurer to request tax advances from the Fulton County auditor, invest available funds at the highest rates of interest, pay district bills promptly within the limits of the appropriations resolution, and serve as a representative member on all Enterprise Zone tax incentive review councils.

Superintendent duties contained in the agenda allow him to accept resignations and make offers of employment directly to candidates during times when the Board is not in session, subject to ratification by the Board.

He also shall review and approve professional and personal leave absences as appropriate, act as purchasing agent for the district, act as a representative for the district on the Northern Buckeye Education Council, and be authorized to dispose of obsolete equipment and materials as needed.

The next Archbold Board of Education meeting will be held on Monday, January 22, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. in the High School Media Center.
