(PRESS RELEASE) Gorham Township – The Toledo Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash on US Route 20 and County Road 23 in Gorham Township, Fulton County. The crash occurred at approximately 6:36 p.m.
The preliminary investigation shows a gray 2016 Ford Fusion, operated by Quiyonna McGirt, 22, of Archbold, Ohio, was driving northbound on County Road 23.
A white 2021 Freightliner Cascadia semi, operated by Joseph Hall, 47, of Viper, Kentucky, was driving westbound on US Route 20. Ms. McGirt failed to yield from a stop sign and entered the intersection, where she was struck by Mr. Hall’s vehicle.
The crash forced both vehicles off the north side of the roadway, where they overturned. Ms. McGirt was pronounced deceased on the scene, and Mr. Hall was not injured.
Safety belts and impaired driving do not appear to be a factor, and the crash remains under investigation.
Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, Fayette Police Department, Fulton County Coroner’s Office, Gorham/Fayette Fire & EMS, Morenci Fire.
