ARCHBOLD VILLAGE COUNCIL: Mayor Swears-In New Patrol Officer

SWEARING-IN… Archbold Mayor Brad Grime swears in Patrol Officer Nathanael Beck during the village’s council meeting.


The Archbold Village Council held their meeting on Monday, January 17th. The meeting was called to order followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

Archbold Mayor Brad Grime first moved to swear-in Patrol Officer Nathanael Beck before heading into council business. After the swearing in, council moved to approve the minutes for the previous meeting that took place on January 3rd. Bills and payroll were also approved at a cost of $620,654.17.

Public Participation then ensued with the new Water Department employee, Zachary Bly, being introduced.


Council then moved to rescind Resolution 2021-87 and declared it necessary for an election to be replaced with Ordinance 2022-05 and Resolution 2022-06. Council then moved onto legislation with the following Ordinance and Resolutions being approved.

Ordinance 2022-05 amending provisions of Chapter 33 of the Codified Ordinances to provide for the increase of three tenths of one percent (0.03%) in the existing income tax levied by the Village of Archbold on salaries, wages, commissions and other compensations and on net profits, effective January 1st, 2023.

Resolution 2022-06 providing for the submission to the electors of the Village of Archbold, at the Election to be held on May 3rd, 2022, an Ordinance to enact an increase in the Village Income Tax Rate from the current one- and one-half percent, to a rate of one and eight tenths’ percent, to become effective on January 1st, 2023.


Resolution 2022-07 to accept a proposal from Stoop for a 2023 Freightliner Chassis and Kalida truck and equipment for the Dump Body and Plow for the Street Department and declaring an emergency.

Resolution 2022-08 to make an expenditure from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund and declaring an emergency.

Resolution 2022-09 amending Resolution 2021-83 estimating the aggregate maximum amount of public funds to be awarded as active deposits and declaring an emergency.

Resolution 2022-10 designating depositories of active funds and declaring an emergency. Resolution 2022-11 designating depositories of interim funds and declaring an emergency.


Resolution 2022-12 to authorize the administrator to advertise for bids for East Lutz Road improvements, contract 1-2022 and declaring and emergency. Resolution 2022-13 accepting a proposal for a 2022 RAM 2500 Regular Cab 4×4 service truck for the water department and declaring an emergency.

Council then moved to approve the Finance Committee Board meeting minutes from January 3rd before hearing reports from various village agencies.

With no correspondence or further business, council moved to adjourn for the evening.
