Randy Box, Assistant Governor, visited the Stryker Rotary Club on July 26th at their regular meeting. Randy provided the club with a presentation about this year’s M.E.S.A. bike ride and fund raiser. MESA (Medical Equipment and Supplies Abroad) has been a district 6600 project since 1980. During that period of time the project has provided over 100 emergency vehicles and countless containers of medical supplies and equipment to poor areas of the world. Ninety-five containers were sent in the ten year period between 2004 and 2014. This year’s bike tour included 45 riders who ride an average of sixty miles per day for a total of 300 miles. The bike ride fund raiser began in 2005 and has been an annual event, and this year they are well on their way to raising their $50,000 goal. All the money raised is used to offset the cost of shipping the equipment to places that would not have it if it were not for the Rotary program. Susan Mack, Assistant Governor, also attended the meeting. Pictured in his bike jersey on the left is Randy Box. He spoke as a guest of Ken Culler on the right.
