EDGERTON – The Edgerton Invitational of September 29 saw six local programs taking to the field to compete with some of the region’s best lady harriers. The Hilltop Lady Cadets placed fourth in the field of 11 teams, with Pettisville taking sixth, and Fayette five points back in seventh. Edon was three points behind Fayette in eighth, while Stryker finished ninth. The Montpelier Locomotives did not have enough runners on the course to compete for team points. PIONEER – Skylar Lantz of Fayette took the top spot at the North Central BBC Jamboree on October 2, but Dominic Frey of Pettisville placed second…and he had serious backup. EDGERTON – The Pettisville Blackbirds were one of six schools that took part in the 2012 Edgerton Invitational on September 29. 127 runners covering 13 teams including Stryker, Fayette, Edon and North Central went at it for the top finishes. Pettisville led the local contingent with a third place finish, with Stryker winning a tie-breaker with Fayette for the fifth place finish. BOWLING GREEN – The storybook season of the North Central golf team unfortunately did not have the happy ending the Eagles had hoped for in their quest for the school’s first ever team trip to the OHSAA Division III State Golf Tournament.  Despite a valiant effort, North Central was unable to overcome some impressive scores put together by some of the area’s best teams. WAUSEON – The Wauseon Indians and the Montpelier Locomotives hooked up for a round of NWOAL golf on the afternoon of October 2. The Indians put three linksters below the 40-stroke mark to take the match by a 153-192 score. On Friday, October 5, the Indians of Wauseon were hosted by the Montpelier Locomotives. It was Homecoming week for the Locos, so they were looking for a win to cap off a week of fun festivities. The second annual Rail Yard Run will take place on Saturday, November 10, 2012 to benefit Cancer Biology Research – University of Toledo Foundation, with the purpose of improving health and wellness among the communities. Race registration will take place from 7:30 am until 8:45 am. The Kids Race starts bright and early at 8:30 in the morning, while the 5k Race/Walk will begin at 9:00 am. INJURY ACCIDENT … Alvordton Fire and Rescue responded to an injury accident on Monday, October 01, 2012, in Alvordton, Ohio, at the corner of Main and Michigan Streets (State Route 20 and County Road 20). The accident occurred shortly before 5:00 p.m. Four individuals were involved. In this photo, rescue personnel work to extract victims from their vehicles. The Ohio State Highway Patrol were in charge at the scene of the accident with the assistance of Williams County Sheriffs deputies and Pioneer EMS . Further details were unavailable at press time.
