FAYETTE (April 28, 2025) – The Edon Bombers secured a stellar league win over the Fayette Eagles in a matchup on Monday night, as the bats were cracking all night long for the Bombers.
The Bombers got started early with the first two batters reaching base, one on an error and another was walked, immediately putting a runner in scoring position to start the game.
Eventually the runners advanced on an error, giving Kyler Sapp an opportunity to bring the first run home with a sacrifice fly to right field.
The next run for the Bombers came when Christian Owens scored on an error, giving Edon a quick 2-0 lead.
Corbin Christman followed with an RBI double on a line drive to left, plating Braedyn Wehrle, bringing the lead to 3-0 by the innings end.
The Eagles also had their first two batters reach base, with a single from Mason Leininger and Dane Andrews getting hit by a pitch.
Later in the inning Cru Lavinder would ground out to first, but it was enough to bring home Leininger, making the score 3-1 by the end of the first.
The Bombers would respond in the second with an RBI double from Owens, plating Max Radabaugh, leading 4-1 through the middle of the second.
The bottom of the second wasn’t as successful for the Eagles. A ground out into a double play from Zander Johnston followed by another ground out from Caleb Lerma ended the inning.
The third inning saw Edon break the game wide open, and the scoring all started after two outs were recorded.
The two out rally started with both Parker Moyer and Carter Steinke scoring on wild pitches, bringing the score to 6-1.
Owens then followed with an RBI single, plating Radabaugh. Owens would eventually score on a wild pitch as well, followed by Sapp stealing home, extending the lead to 9-1.
Multiple walks and errors would give Edon an 11-1 lead by the innings end. The Eagles’ struggle from behind the mound gave the Bombers all the momentum they needed.
The third inning was quite the opposite of a scoring run for the Eagles, as they went three up and three down in the inning.
The fourth inning saw the Bombers extend their lead even more, with RBI singles from Sapp and Lane Brandt, making the score 13-1 halfway through the fourth.
The fourth inning was another three up and three up down, with Brandt picking up a strikeout in the inning.
The fifth saw Edon tack on three more runs, to secure a 15 run lead by the end of the fifth, which secured the mercy rule victory for the Bombers.
With the win, Edon continues to stay in contention for a league title. They will look to continue their winning ways against Stryker on Tuesday. Fayette will look to bounce back against Pettisville on Tuesday.
