Bernadine T. “Bernie” Waldvogel, age 80, of Defiance, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Twin Rivers Center in Defiance. She had worked at Campbells’s Soup in Napoleon, the former Beatrice Foods in Archbold, Four County Career Center, and she retired from Northwest State Community College.
Bernie was born in Stryker on Nov. 3, 1935, the daughter of Theodore and Inez (Sherman) Gaff. On March 10, 1973 she married Gary Lee Waldvogel, and he survives. She was 1953 graduate of Stryker High School.
Surviving, besides her husband, Gary, children, Sue (Rex) Ruby of Evansport, Bill (Roxann) Burkhart of Defiance, Jim (Cheryl) Burkhart of Defiance, Brad (Nancy Roehrig) Burkhart of Whitehouse and Bruce (Shelly) Burkhart of Weston; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and sister, Donna (Murhl) Stahl of Nettle Lake. She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father, Joe Barber; granddaughter, Jennifer Ann Burkhart, great-granddaughter, Ellie Renee Burkhart, great-great-granddaughter, Ella Marie Jo Dickerson. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Denver Gaff, Robert Gaff and Samuel Barber, and one sister, Carol Ann Barber.
Visitation for Bernie will be held from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at the Grisier Funeral Home in Stryker, where the funeral will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday.
