Bernard G. “Big Sam” Mock, age 88, of Wauseon, passed away Monday morning, March 23, 2026, at Brookview Healthcare in Defiance. He was born on Dec. 24, 1937, to Elwood and Evelyn (Windisch) Mock in Tedrow, Ohio.
Bernard was a graduate of Pettisville High School and following high school he served in the U.S. Army.
He retired from Campbell’s Soup Company after more than 47 years of service in the maintenance department. Bernard married DiAnn (Eichenauer) Mock on April 26, 1976, in Wauseon.
He was a true outdoorsman; he loved hunting, fishing, trapping and tending to the Rat Shack. Bernard attended Pettisville Missionary Church with his wife, DiAnn. When he wasn’t working he could be found taking care of his flower and vegetable gardens.
Bernard is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, DiAnn Mock; children, Cylinda Prater, John (Loretta) Mock, Samuel (Kathy) Mock, Jeffrey Lee, Marsha (Adam) Lee and Pamala (Nick) Elliot; many precious grandchildren; great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Jeff Mock and sisters, Roxanne Bostleman and Shelby Borton.
The family will receive guests Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 10 a.m. to noon at Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home, 219 S. Fulton St., Wauseon. His memorial service will begin at noon in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Tedrow Cemetery.
