Betty Lou Britenriker, age 86, of Archbold, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice, surrounded by her loving family.
Betty was born on Oct. 23, 1939, the daughter of the late L.H. and Wilma Edith Charles. She retired from Dayton Walther in Fayette after 33 years of dedicated service and later worked at Sauder Heritage Inn in Archbold.
A devoted member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Archbold, Betty’s faith guided her throughout her life. She was an avid reader, loved working on puzzles, and was known for her wonderful sense of humor. Above all, Betty deeply loved her family, her friends, and her Lord. Her greatest joys in life were her children: Jeffery Joseph, Christina Marie, and Jason James.
Betty is survived by her sister, Susan Kaye Roselle; her sons Jeffery Britenriker, Jason (Annie) Britenriker, and Todd (Jackie) Short; and her cherished grandchildren Jenny (Rob) Johnson, Jolene (William) Gearig, John (Amie) Britenriker, Jasmine (Jacob) Hoffer, Savannah (Trent) Crouch, and Suzi (Austin) Justinger. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Trinity (Trent), Trevor, Jeremiah, Drake, Charlotte, Adelaide, Jorja, Fynn, and Jasper.
Preceding her in death were her sister Nancy Jane Unich, her brother Larry Eugene Charles, her beloved daughter Christina Short, and her longtime companion Larry Carlin. Betty was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Services will be held on Thursday, April 9, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Rev. William Pifher officiating. Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. at the church before the service. Interment will follow in Shiffler Cemetery at 2 p.m. www.ShortFuneralHome.com.
