Betty Ruth Freese, 91 of West Unity, formerly of Montpelier died late Tuesday night at Evergreen Manor Nursing Home in Montpelier. She was born on September 7th 1921 in Cambria, Michigan to Blon J. and Sophrona B. (Abbee) Esterline. Betty received her G.E.D. from Coldwater, Michigan High School in 1989.

She was a homemaker for most of her life. While living in Coldwater, Michigan she worked at a senior center and for the Coldwater High School for 15 years.

Betty was a member of the Montpelier Church of the Nazarene and also attended First Presbyterian Church of Montpelier.


Betty is survived by a son William (Janet) Freese of Montpelier, two daughters Kathleen (Ron) Will of Coldwater Lake, MI, Kristina (Bill) Bishop of Montpelier, nine grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren, two brothers James (Ruth) Esterline of Montgomery, MI Danny (Grace) Esterline of Wausau, WI, three sisters Bonnie Gelenius of Davison, MI, Blondean Winn of Germantown, MD, and Lula Gay (Aaron) Southworth of Cambria, MI.

She was preceded in death by parents, husband William K. Freese on December 13th 1975, two brothers and two sisters.

Visitation hours will be on Friday, January 4th from 5-9 pm at the Wilson-Geesey Funeral Home in Montpelier. Services will be on Saturday, at 2 pm at the Montpelier Church of the Nazarene with Pastor John E. Rumple to officiate. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Montpelier. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Crippled Children’s Society or World Vision International or Disabled American Veterans (D.A.V.)
