The Blakeslee Village Council held a concise yet informative meeting on the evening of Wednesday, June 4th, 2025 with a start around 6:00 p.m. at the Blakeslee Village Hall.
As council members rolled in and took their places, two members, Virgil Green and Rosemary Alexander, were absent, leaving Mayor Eric Jenkins and members Nick Reed, Robert Mohre, Linda Muehlfeld, and Shelly Cox in attendance.
After roll call, the minutes from the previous meeting held on May 6th, 2025 were reviewed and approved.
Looking at the schedule for the year ahead, several current members of the council will be up for reelection on December 31, 2025. This includes Linda Muehlfeld, Nick Reed, Rosemary Alexander, and Robert Mohre.
The clerk’s report was also shared, with receipts totaling $2,039.73 and payments totaling $1,810.93. Among discussions of the village, several council members shared their thoughts on the appearance of the town.
All were in agreement that citizens were doing an excellent job maintaining their yards, including mowing, and that overall, the village has been looking great.
A concern was brought up regarding potential sidewalk cracking due to weather or natural factors, such as ice forming in the cracks over the winter or weeds protruding through the cracks. Mayor Jenkins addressed the issue, saying he would have it looked over and assessed at a later date.
Also, by Jenkins, he mentioned the replacement of a lightbulb near the south end of town that had needed repaired.
As each member agreed there were no further items to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 6:20 p.m. The next meeting will take place on July 3rd, 2025 at 6:00 p.m.
