ARCHBOLD (December 4, 2025) – The Archbold Bluestreaks came out on top at home after a hard-fought battle against the Edgerton Bulldogs that saw the two tied at the end of the first and second quarters.
The first quarter saw plenty of action but very little scoring, with both teams showing good fundamentals and neither side making any major mistakes.
About two minutes in, Archbold sophomore Maddox Pinter sank a three, which was matched by Edgerton senior Maddox Baker roughly 90 seconds later.
A basket by Archbold sophomore Wyatt Gericke was matched by a pair of free throws from Baker after being fouled by Bluestreak sophomore Tripp Langenderfer, leaving the first frame at 5-5.
Both teams heated up in the second quarter, with the Bluestreaks striking first via an overhand dart of a pass from junior Isaiahs Gracia to junior Morgan Harris who put in a basket before being fouled and putting in one of two free throws. Edgerton immediately fired back with a trey from junior Mason Elden to tie it up at eight.
Another three from Bulldog senior Brady Everetts was soon followed by a pair of free throws from Harris, immediately followed by another three points from Everetts comprising of a basket and free throw resulting from the same action.
The rivals traded a basket each before play slowed down again, but before the end of the quarter a breakaway layup from Gracia, two free throws by Bluestreak junior Jarett Rufenacht, and a basket from Pinter would leave them tied at 18 at the end of the second quarter.
Archbold caught fire in the third, picking up five treys from Gracia, two free throws from Gericke, a layup and trey from Langenderfer, and a basket each from Pinter and sophomore Wyatt Cline on their way to outscore Edgerton 27-7 in the quarter and bring the overall score to 45-25.
The Bulldogs continued to have a hard time shaking Bluestreak defenders in the final stanza, although their performance improved over the prior quarter.
Archbold still made the first strikes, with a pair of free throws from Gracia and a basket each from Gericke and junior Aranjer Krieger putting them up 51-27.
The teams traded baskets before Edgerton doubled up with back-to-back baskets by Baker and senior Parker Elden.
A pair of free throws from Langenderfer and a trey from Cline were shortly followed by a single free throw from senior Bulldog Bryce Schroeder before Rufenacht put in the last Archbold field goal.
