BOYS VARSITY BASKETBALL: Blistering Shooting Keys Wauseon’s 60-32 Win Over Edgerton

WAUSEON (December 15, 2023) – The Indians came out of the gate red hot from the field going 7/9 in the first quarter with four triples to take a commanding 22-4 lead and roll to a 60-32 nonleague win.

Nicholas Stinner started things for Wauseon with two buckets inside before Connor Keefer connected on three straight trifectas for a 13-2 lead at the 4:25 mark.

A Scottie Krontz hoop for Edgerton stopped the Wauseon run, but the Indians would get four points from Stinner, a triple by Tyson Rodriguez, and Carter Gype went 2/3 at the line to push the lead to 22-4 after one quarter.


A Braden Vajen field goal began the second quarter scoring for the Indians before Noah Weaver ended what was an 11-0 Wauseon surge with a triple to make it 24-7.

Cory Herman added a bucket for the Bulldogs and Krontz would hit from downtown to trim the Wauseon lead to 26-12.

Wauseon responded with six straight points to end the half as Trey Parsons reeled off four straight points, the second score on a steal and dunk, and Stinner added another bucket down low to make it 32-12 Wauseon at the break.

A field goal by Herman began the third frame for Edgerton before another scoring run by Wauseon put the game on ice.


A Parsons hoop and a three-pointer by Vajen started the surge followed by another Keefer triple, a bucket by Parsons and Vajen scored off a pass from Parsons after a steal to cap off a 12-2 run that made it 44-16.

Keefer and Stinner ended the third for Wauseon with back-to-back scores as Wauseon finished the quarter 7/13 from the field and outscored Edgerton 16-5 to take a 48-17 lead to the final stanza.

For the game, Wauseon (2-1) was 23/40 field for 57% and had eight three-pointers while holding Edgerton to just 12/42 (28%) shooting.

Keefer topped three Indians in double figures with 14, Nicholas Stinner had 12, and Parsons added 10.

Herman had 12 to front Edgerton (1-3) and Krontz added nine.
