(1999 Graduate Of Hilltop High School)

WEST UNITY, Ohio — Brandon Alan Brown, age 45, of West Unity, died Tuesday morning, March 24, 2026, at his home, surrounded by family while under the care of Hospice, following a six-year battle with ALS.

Many would not have guessed a man of his size and stature would have begun life on November 30, 1980, being born premature at Toledo Hospital. He was a miracle baby, weighing only 2 pounds, 9 ounces — the firstborn child of Albert Brown and the former Sherrie Coffman.

Brandon started his life living in Edon and after moving a few times, in the 6th grade he landed in West Unity, a community that became embedded into who he was.

He attended Hilltop High School where he played football, baseball, and basketball, and graduated with the Class of 1999. Brandon immediately entered the workforce after graduation, working most of his career with N.W. Brown Electric (no relation) in West Unity. It was a job that allowed him to showcase his talent, work ethic, and personality to countless people in the community.

Following a previous marriage that blessed him with two children, Brandon fell in love with the former Melissia Ann Montague, who also had two children, and they blended their two families into one on Aug. 18, 2018, on their beloved property in rural West Unity.

They were blessed with two additional children and over seven years as husband and wife. They are faithful members of Solid Rock Community Church in West Unity, where they were active in their community group.

Brandon was very talented and could seemingly do or fix anything. He enjoyed handcrafting lamps and various furniture that he generously gave to others, which are now treasured keepsakes.

He loved social gatherings, and especially loved campfires and hosting at his barn which became the gathering place of many, through graduation and birthday parties and even several weddings, including his own. He equally enjoyed his time spent in solitude with his family at home.

At times he was predictable with his incredibly regimented nature and routine. He was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He enjoyed road trips to visit his kids living in other states, but his ailment unfortunately limited his ability to take as many trips as he desired.

A man who wore his heart on his sleeve, Brandon blessed many with his sentimental charm, happy-go-lucky wit, and incredible hugs. He truly loved with his whole heart, and to know Brandon, was to be loved by him. His beautiful presence on earth was seemingly short, but he will forever be missed.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Melissia, is his mother, Sherrie Queen (Roger Tipping) of West Unity; his father, Albert “Bert” (Lori) Brown of Edon; six children, Ariana (Max) Blinow of Wilmington, N.C., Hayden (Zoi) Brown of Wilmington, N.C., Shealyn (James) Camper of Maumee, and Marley Martin, William and Dominik Brown at home; maternal grandfather, Homer Coffman of Edgerton; paternal grandmother, Josephine “Grandma Jo” Brown of Edon; siblings, Angela (Olivia) Brown of Findlay, Ohio, Elizabeth (Glenn) Cruze of Knoxville, Tenn., Joey (Erin) Brown of McConnelsville, Ohio, Ben (Megan) Brown of West Unity, and Heath (Hannah) Brown of Edon; three grandchildren, Logan, Ezra and Cameron Blinow; loving in-laws, Joe and Brenda Montague of Fayette; and numerous beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Brandon was preceded in his death by his maternal grandmother, Eva Coffman and paternal grandfather, Albert Brown. He is reunited in Heaven with six babies, including Melissia’s baby, Gabriel Asher.

The family will receive friends for visitation at Solid Rock Community Church in West Unity on Monday, March 30, 2026, from 1 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the church on Tuesday, March 31, beginning at 11 a.m. with Pastor Rob Rodriguez officiating. A private burial service in Pleasant View Union Cemetery in Fayette will be held for the family following a luncheon.

Friends can express sympathies to the family online by visiting the tribute wall at www.marryfh.com. Arrangements have been made with the guidance of the Marry Funeral Home, Fayette.
