Brett L. Scott, 54, of Wauseon, died Thursday morning, December 15, 2016, at Kingston Care Center of Sylvania, following a battle with cancer. Born April 17, 1962, in Wauseon, Brett was the youngest child of Ora and Velma (Towne) Scott.

Brett lived his formative years in Fayette, where he graduated in 1980 from Gorham-Fayette High School. He received an engineering degree from what was then Northwest Technical School. He worked for Fayette Tubular Products for several years before becoming a self-employed engineer, forming a business he labeled BLS Design. Renown to many in the automotive industry, Brett was a skilled robotics engineer and inventor, and he fielded calls from all over the world to help conceptualize various components. Honda Motor Company developed a few of his designs in their automobile manufacturing.

Brett also expressed his creative talents in the form of art drawing, and had considered publishing a cartoon. His other interests included all types of music, golfing, Indian cuisine, basketball, and gambling at area casinos. He also enjoyed the serenity of nature, and liked being outdoors.

Surviving are a sister, Bonnie Bishop of LaJolla, CA; his brother, Randy (Laurie) Scott of Pioneer, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Brett was preceded in death by a sister, Diane Desarmeaux.

A funeral service for Brett will be held Saturday, December 17, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home in Fayette with Rev. Gene Sugg officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Union Cemetery in Fayette. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Friday evening from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions in honor of Brett can be made to our local Public Broadcasting Station (WGTE) or to the Fayette Christian Church-Disciples. Friends can share memories and words of comfort with the family online at www.eaglefuneralhomes.com
