WAUSEON — A Bryan man has been indicted on eight charges, including aggravated vehicular homicide and aggravated vehicular assault, in connection with a fatal crash that killed a Kentucky woman and injured four others on State Route 66 in Fulton County last August.
Dustin J. Wood, 40, was indicted by a Fulton County grand jury on one count of aggravated vehicular homicide, a second-degree felony; three counts of aggravated vehicular assault, both third-degree felonies; one count of operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, a drug of abuse, or a combination of them; two counts of operating a vehicle while under the influence of a listed controlled substance or a listed metabolite of a controlled substance, all first-degree misdemeanors; and one count of vehicular manslaughter, a second-degree misdemeanor.
The charges stem from a two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 8:40 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 10, 2025, at the intersection of State Route 66 and County Road L in Franklin Township, roughly three miles south of Fayette.
According to a press release from the Toledo Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Wood was driving a 2012 Ford Fusion eastbound on County Road L when he failed to yield the right-of-way at a posted stop sign at State Route 66.
Wood’s vehicle struck a 2019 Honda CR-V driven by McKenzie White, 30, of Louisville, Kentucky, who was traveling southbound on State Route 66.
The impact sent White’s vehicle off the roadway, where it struck a utility pole and rolled onto its top.
White sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. A passenger in White’s vehicle, Margaret Arnsby, 30, of Cincinnati, sustained serious injuries and was transported by ground ambulance to Fulton County Health Center.
Wood and his passenger, Deadra C. Wood, age not reported, of Bryan, were transported by air ambulance to St. Vincent Hospital in Toledo with serious injuries.
A third occupant of Wood’s vehicle, a 16-year-old juvenile, was transported by ground ambulance to Bryan Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities allege Wood was operating his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, a drug of abuse, or a combination of them, and that he had a concentration of marijuana metabolite in his system at the time of the crash.
The indictment alleges that on Aug. 10, Wood caused the death of one individual as the result of committing an OVI offense, and caused serious physical harm to three individuals while operating a motor vehicle.
The charges carry significant potential prison time if Wood is convicted. Aggravated vehicular homicide as a second-degree felony is punishable by two to eight years in prison.
Each count of aggravated vehicular assault as a third-degree felony carries a potential sentence of nine to 36 months.
The OVI and vehicular manslaughter misdemeanor charges carry additional jail time, and sentences could potentially be ordered to run consecutively.
Wood appeared in Fulton County Common Pleas Court for an arraignment on Tuesday, but the proceedings were not available before press time.
A pretrial hearing is set for April 9. Wood requested court-appointed counsel, and the court granted his request.
As with all criminal cases, Wood is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
