On a sunny Saturday morning, April 9th, the Bryan community laced up their sneakers and came together in support for an important cause – the first Special Olympics Run and Walk Marathon!

Organized through a partnership between the Williams County Special Olympics and the local 4-H Explorers of Bryan, this event was all about fun, fitness, and inclusion. “Color Your World,” sends the message of seeing the beauty and kindness of all people.

Over 50 participants of all ages and abilities gathered to take part in either a 1-mile walk or a more ambitious 5k run. Entry was just $25 per person, which included a commemorative t-shirt and colorful necklace.

One of the event’s most delightful touches was the colorful markers that were handed out so everyone could sign each other’s shirts – a keepsake full of memories and new friendships. The crowd was full of smiles as they tried to get the most signatures!

Thanks to generous support from the local businesses, participants also received a free breakfast! This was provided by Salty Dog Food Truck.

While the gathering celebrated everyone’s effort, the first-place winner took home a fun gift basket as a little extra prize.

Sponsors from Testament Tattoo, Wieland Chase LLC, Spangler’s Candy Company, Endless Creations, and many more donated to make this event possible today. 4H students participated in helping the runners get settled, as well as some joining in on the race themselves!

From the first step to the final high-five, the morning was filled with running shoes, laughter, and community spirit. Organizers and participants alike are already looking forward to making this joyful gathering a yearly tradition.
