Carl William Knipp, Sr., age 77, of Wauseon, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2019, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Maumee. He was born on October 29, 1941, in Holgate, Ohio, to the late Clair and Ardella (Eldred) Knipp. On July 8, 1995, he married Norma Eaton, and she survives. Prior to his retirement, Carl worked as a machinist at Tenneco, Inc. for many years. He was a veteran of the United States Army National Guard.
Carl’s biggest passion in life was playing Euchre. Among his other interests were fishing, camping, and playing golf. He was a lifetime member of the Wauseon and Napoleon VFW’s (of which he was a National Officer for the DAD’s), the Napoleon American Legion, the Moose, and the AMVETS.
Surviving Carl are his wife, Norma; children, Karen Corbin, Kim Knipp-Davis, Kathy (Dana) Garno, Carl (Nikki) Knipp, Kris (Jeremy) Zachrich, Steven B. (Maura) Winters, and Shannon (Todd Baumgartner) Griesinger; 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Carolyn (Darrel) Wulff and RuthAnn (Mike) Gault; brother, Paul (Carlene) Knipp; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Arlene Mapes.
According to Carl’s wishes, funeral arrangements are private. Those planning a memorial contribution in Carl’s memory are asked to consider the Wauseon VFW, DAD’s.
