Carolina A Ruiz WEBCarolina A. Ruiz, age 95, lifelong resident of Delta, passed away Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Swanton Health Care, surrounded by her family. She was born on May 26, 1920 in Guadalajara, Mexico, to the late Antonio Aviña and Maria (Andradé) Aviña. She married Raymond M. Ruiz, and he preceded her in death.

Carolina was a homemaker most of her life and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She was active in St. Caspar Catholic Church; volunteering with many projects and the Rosary Altar Society. She enjoyed watching and supporting her grandchildren and their various sporting events.

In addition to her husband, Carolina was preceded in death by her infant son, Salvador Ruiz; brothers, Adolf, Joe, Tony and Ramond Aviña; sister, Mercy Scheele; and daughter-in-law, Amanda Ruiz.

Surviving are her loving children, Fred Ruiz of Oregon, OH, John (Elida) Ruiz of Houston, TX, Mary (Raul) Fonseca of Delta and Martin (Mary) Ruiz of Columbus, OH; ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.


Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Sunday, October 25, 2015 at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St. Hwy. 109 in Delta; with a Rosary Service beginning at 7:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial for Carolina will be held 11:00 AM on Monday, October 26, 2015 at St. Caspar Catholic Church, 1205 N. Shoop Ave, Wauseon, OH 43567. Father Robert Holden will be officiating. Interment will follow at St. Caspar Catholic Cemetery in Wauseon.

Those wishing a show of sympathy are asked to consider contributions to St. Caspar Catholic Church or a charity of the donor’s choice in her memory. Carolina provided much comfort, love, and care to the residents and staff at Swanton Health care during her ten year stay.
