Caroline Mae Winters, née Phillips, age 86, passed away on Feb. 11, 2021, in Clearwater, Florida. She was born on May 13, 1934, in Curtice, Ohio, to Jeremiah (Jerry) and Ruth Kinney Phillips and grew up in Richland, Ohio.
She was a graduate of Defiance College, Ohio, and received her bachelor’s degree in education. She began her teaching career in 1956 in Bryan, Ohio. She met and married her college sweetheart, John Winters, in that same year. Later, Caroline, John and their daughter, Shelley, moved to the Cleveland area where she continued her teaching career at Olmsted Falls, Ohio. She and John eventually retired together in 1989.
Caroline is survived by her husband of 64 years, John; daughter, Michelle (Shelley); son, Michael; and her two grandsons, Matthew Busick and Conley Winters. She is also survived by her sister, Suzanne Ruth Phillips Shelton, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Frederick and Llyod Phillips.
