(Devoted Husband, Loyal Friend, Tireless Servant)
Cedric Rufenacht Gisel of Pettisville, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly March 28, 2026.
Cedric was a devoted and loving husband to Bridget Hanko, who was truly the light of his life. He was a cherished son of Merle and Carolyn Gisel, who preceded him in death, a caring brother to Lincoln (Erin) Gisel and a proud and loving uncle to Wyatt and Molly Gisel.
Cedric was a treasured member of the Hanko family and a beloved nephew and cousin in the Gisel and Rufenacht families.
If Cedric was part of your life, you would have been immeasurably blessed. He had a wide circle of friends who meant the world to him, and he to them.
There was never a story shared about Cedric that didn’t include laughter—often the kind that left everyone in stitches. He found his greatest joy in simple moments spent with friends, cousins, neighbors, and colleagues, creating memories that will be treasured by all who knew him.
He held deep love and respect for both his mother’s and father’s families, always showing thoughtfulness, kindness, and genuine care to his relatives.
A devoted fan of University of Michigan football, Cedric cherished his time in “The Big House,” cheering on his team. He had a passion for fishing—especially the annual trips to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula—as well as snowmobiling, enjoying live music from the 70s and 80s, and spending time with family, friends and coworkers.
Cedric worked most recently at Hajoca Corporation of Toledo and in the plumbing supplies industry for over three decades. Although he considered retiring soon, he set that aside because he didn’t want his customers to suffer.
They were like family to him and he never wanted them to go without his support. He always kept his phone on, ready to meet their needs. He was dedicated to them and treated colleagues and customers with care and integrity.
Cedric will be remembered for his unselfish nature, kind heart, and his willingness to help anyone in need. His presence brought warmth, laughter, and comfort to so many, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Services will be held Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 11 a.m. at West Clinton Mennonite Church with Pastor Ryan Harker officiating. Interment will precede in the Pettisville Cemetery. Friends may call Monday, April 6, 2026, from 3–7 p.m. at West Clinton.
