Charlene Alloway (1955 – 2024)

(Resident Of Bryan)

Charlene J. Alloway, 69, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away at The Laurels of Defiance on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, after a four-year battle with metastatic breast cancer stage IV.

Charlene was born on September 11, 1955, in Bryan, daughter of the late Charles D. Doan and Connie M. Straw.

She attended Fairview High School and graduated with the class of 1973, before continuing her education at Bowling Green State University where she studied Psychology.

Charlene worked in the shipping and customer service department at Tri-Wall in Butler, Indiana, for 13 years. She then worked in food services at Northwest State Community College. Charlene enjoyed gardening, baking, spending time with her grandchildren, and writing poetry when the opportunity presented itself.


Surviving are her two daughters, Amber Carrell of Bryan, and Abbey (Lance Bonar) Alloway of Sherwood, Ohio; four grandchildren, Jericho Dennis, Aleeah Dennis, Hudsyn Bonar and Hoyt Bonar; three siblings, Curtis (Sheila) Doan of Defiance, Ohio, Clint Doan of Ney, Ohio, and Ronald (Joyce) Purk of Oak Harbor, Ohio; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Charlene was preceded in death by her parents; by her step-father, Richard R. “Dick” Purk; and by two step-sisters, Shelley Hartman and Debbie Zedaker.

There will be no visitation or services held at this time. Arrangements are in care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan 43506.


Memorial contributions can be directed to the family to help defray expenses and sent to Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home.
