Charles Riegsecker (1940-2020)

December 14, 2020No Comments2 Mins Read

Charles was born near West Unity, Ohio to Clarence and Irene (Bourn) Riegsecker. He attended Pike School and graduated from Wauseon High School, Class of 1958.

“Chuck” farmed with his father and worked as shipping and receiving clerk for The Sterling Milk Company, where he developed many long-term friendships in connection with the dairy industry.

He married Sharon M Wagner, of Wauseon, on May 29, 1960 and she survives him. In 1963, he realized his dream of becoming a dairy farmer in rural Delta where the family milked cows for the next 41 years while raising 5 children:  Rashelle (Terry) Conrad, of Wauseon; Brenda (Bryan) Foster, of Wauseon; Randall (Jenny), of Delta; Beth (Terry) Herman, of Napoleon and Brian (Emily), of Delta.

From kindergarten to adulthood the children were given farm responsibilities and driven to develop a strong work ethic, which Chuck and Sharon modeled. Randy and Brian continued in recent years as partners on the farming operation.

Chuck worked his entire life with dirt under his fingernails, Jesus in his heart and loads of love for family and friends. Chuck and Sharon also have 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren that love to visit the farm.

Chuck was a member of Crossroads Evangelical Church, Fulton County Farm Bureau, has served as president of Fulton County Dairy Association and the former Delta Farmer’s Elevator, was a long-time delegate for Dairy Farmer’s of America and Central Ohio Breeder’s Association/Select Sires.

He was awarded honorary chapter farmer by Delta FFA, Master Farmer by Ohio Farmer Magazine and was inducted into the Fulton County Fair Hall of Fame in 2010.

He is survived by sister, Sara Strauss, brother Paul, sisters Dianne Galbraith and Jean Hayward.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, all services will be private with burial at Winameg Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be given to the Gideons, Crossroads Evangelical Church, or LifeWise Academy.

Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.grisierfh.com. Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home is honored to serve the Riegsecker family.
