Claudine Schmucker (1933 – 2025)

(Belonged To First Lutheran Church Of Stryker)

Claudine Mae Schmucker, age 91, of Stryker, passed away on January 1, 2025, at Fairlawn Haven in Archbold. Claudine worked and retired from Sauder Woodworking.

Claudine was born on June 6, 1933, to the late Lawrence and Stella (Beck) Bowers. On March 5, 1955, she married the love of her life, Gerald, who preceded her in death in 2021.

Claudine and Gerald were members of the First Lutheran Church of Stryker, where Claudine volunteered her time teaching Sunday School and leading Bible School. She was also a member of the Joyful Singers.

Surviving Claudine is her son, Brad (Nancy) Schmucker of Prescott, AZ; daughter, Kristi Ovak of North Canton, OH; grandson, Adam Ovak of North Olmstead, OH; grandson, Jared Ovak of Copley, OH; and granddaughter, Samantha (Cory) Prosowksi of Amherst, OH; and great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Lydia, and Leighton. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Della Merillat; and good friend, Sharon von Seggern and her grandson, Maddix Grime.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; parents; brother, Wayne Bowers; brother and sister-in-law, Max and Joan Bowers; brother-in-law, Paul Merillat; and brother-in-law, Lavon Schmucker.

Visitation for Claudine will take place on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at the First Lutheran Church of Stryker, from 10am to 11am. A memorial service will follow visitation at 11am, with Minister Chris Staup officiating.

Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.grisierfh.com. The Grisier Funeral Home of Stryker is honored to serve the Schmucker family.
