Cletus GoffinetCletus M. “Matt” Goffinet, 86 years, of Pioneer, Ohio passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2016, in his residence with his family by his side. Matt was born December 24, 1929 in Fostoria, Ohio to the late Elmer and Lena (Marzolf) Goffinet. He was a 1947 graduate of Pioneer High School. Matt married Linda L. Rothgeb on July 22, 1989 in Angola, Indiana. He worked for Wayne Fabricating Corporation as a Quality Control Engineer for over 35 years until his retirement in 1991. Matt and his wife, Linda, attended Nettle Lake United Brethren Church. Matt was a talented poet, writing countless poems. He often used his poems while making homemade holiday cards for others. Matt also found enjoyment in fishing, woodworking, reading, and cooking.

Surviving is his wife, Linda, of Pioneer, Ohio; five children, Matthew (Joan) Goffinet of O’Fallon, Missouri, Patrice of Kendallville, Indiana, Rebecca of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Bethany of Vero Beach, Florida, and Andrew (Rebecca) Goffinet of Lindenwood, Florida; six granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rena Trautman of South Point, Ohio, and Dee (Robert) Bryan of Dover, Tennessee; two brothers, Bud (Claudia) Apt of Bryan, Ohio, Rhoe (Peggy) Apt of Pioneer, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews. Matt was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Clark Apt, and one brother, Norman Goffinet.

There will be no visitation and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions be made to the family.
