PIONEER – The North Central Eagles and Holgate Tigers locked up in a good ole fashioned pitcher’s duel in their April 4th encounter.  After neither team could muster a run the first seven innings, the host team needed some eighth inning heroics to top the Tigers 1-0.  Madison Messner singled to begin the inning. After Rachel Shipman was inserted as a pinch runner, Oyer blasted a double to put runners on second and third. Braylyn Wyrick was intentionally walked, to load the bases with no outs. Reese Cogswell came to the plate next and calmly hit a shot to the base of the fence in right-center field driving Shipman with the winning run.

Cogswell started on the mound for North Central lasting 3 1/3 innings while allowing two hits, struck out three and issued three bases on balls.  Wyrick finished to pick up the win in relief giving up one hit, three K’s, and three walks.

Besides Cogswell’s game winning single, Messner collected three singles.  Oyer stroked two doubles, while Wyrick and Sabrina Pickford each singled.  The win moves the Eagles to 2-1 on the season.
