EDON (May 14, 2024) – No. 9 Pettisville needed just two hits to generate their five runs and Rylan Warner tossed a complete game with seven strikeouts in a 5-0 win at No. 7 Edon.

A single by Kaleb Wyse, a sacrifice from Warner to move Wyse to second, a wild pitch, and then an RBI groundout by Josh Morris got Pettisville on the board in the second inning.

Pettisville would get two runs in the third as Luke Horning was hit by a pitch, Quinn Ripke reached on an error, and catcher Creighton Aeschliman walked to load the bases with one out.

Caden Bishop then hit a ground ball to third base which resulted in a Bomber error as Ripke and Horning scored to make it 3-0.

The Bombers put together their first scoring threat in the bottom of the third as Kyler Sapp reached on an error and Christian Owens walked to put two on with two outs.

Warner stopped the threat though by recording one of his seven strikeouts as he would get Lane Brandt swinging to end the inning.

Edon was on the attack in the fourth as Zayne Oberlin and Corbin Chrisman started the frame with singles to put runners at first and third.

The Bombers would attempt a double steal with Chrisman swiping second but Ripke cutoff the throw to second base from his shortstop position and gunned it home to Aeschliman to catch Oberlin trying to steal home.

Braedyn Wehrle would then walk but Warner got an infield fly and a lineout to center to keep Edon off the board.

Pettisville manufactured another run in the fifth starting with Wyse being hit by a pitch and Warner drew a walk.

That led to the Bombers bringing in Sapp to pitch and a passed ball on Sapp’s second pitch to Morris moved the runners to second and third.

Morris then hit a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Wyse, and extended the Pettisville lead to 4-0.

Pettisville tacked on one more in the sixth as Horning and Ripke walked, and Bishop lined an RBI single to left with two outs to make it a 5-0 game.

The first two Bombers reached base in the sixth before Warner retired the next three batters in order and then retired the side 1-2-3 in the seventh to secure the win.

Bishop and Morris each had two RBIs for Pettisville while Sapp and Chrisman had two hits apiece for Edon.

Pettisville will travel to No. 4 seed North Central on Thursday for a Division IV sectional final starting at 5pm.
