LIMA (November 7, 2025) – Edon knew they were going up against one of the top teams in the Division VII state football playoffs in Lima Central Catholic.
The Thunderbirds showed it and easily dismantled the Bombers, 49-7, in a Region 26 playoff quarterfinal matchup at Lima Stadium.
Lima C.C. (10-1) advances to the regional semifinal Friday night against Northwest Conference archrival Columbus Grove in a rematch of a week nine contest which saw the Bulldogs pull off a 33-28 victory.
It was all downhill for the Bombers from the opening kickoff which saw them attempting an onside kick to begin the game, but the Thunderbirds successfully recovered it at the Edon 47-yard line.
On the first offensive play, quarterback Brady Parker found Michael Quatman on a 47-yard touchdown pass just eight seconds into the game.
After forcing Edon to punt from its own 10-yard line, sophomore running back Carter Lester scored on a 12-yard run for Lima C.C. and it was 14-0 with 7:48 remaining in the opening quarter.
Facing a quick two-touchdown deficit, Edon put together its best offensive drive of the night.
Bombers’ quarterback Briggs Gallehue connected with Kendol Brigle on a 23-yard pass play to the LCC 34-yard line.
Facing third-and-nine at the LCC 33, Gallehue completed a 10-yard pass to Brigle to the 23-yard line.
Following a pass interference call on LCC, the senior quarterback found Lincoln Kiess on a 12-yard touchdown strike. Joao Pedro de Souza Franca then added the PAT kick as Edon closed the gap to 14-7 with 5:09 left in the quarter.
From there, the Thunderbirds pushed their lead to 28-7, scoring on their next two possessions.
The Thunderbirds went four plays and 55 yards, with Lester scoring on a three-yard run after Parker connected with Quatman on a 39-yard pass completion to the Edon 3, setting up the short touchdown jaunt.
After forcing another Edon punt, the Thunderbirds went five plays and 47 yards with Quatman scoring on a 10-yard pass from Parker with 4.1 seconds left in the first quarter to take a decisive 28-7 lead.
The Bombers would reach into LCC territory in their next two series, but eventually came away empty handed both times, on a fumble and then an incomplete pass on fourth down.
Lima C.C. added two more scores in the second quarter, a three-yard run by Xavier Pernell and a Parker to Quatman 37-yard pass for a 42-7 halftime lead
Quatman, who hauled in nine passes for 213 yards for the Thunderbirds, added his fourth touchdown reception in the third quarter on a 30-yard pass from Parker making it 49-7.
The Thunderbirds not only dominated the scoreboard, but also in total yardage outgaining the Bombers, 476-198.
Parker completed 15 of 21 passes for 278 yards and four touchdowns for Lima C.C. Pernell led the ground attack with 73 yards on seven carries, and Lester added 56 yards on six carries.
Gallehue was 20 of 34 for 175 yards passing for Edon. Brigle led the Bombers receiving corps with five catches for 52 yards. Kiess had four catches for 39 yards; Eli Dickmann had four catches for 32 yards, and Gauge Nester had five catches for 25 yards.
Edon closed out its season with a 9-3 record. The Bombers will be graduating eight seniors, Briggs Gallehue, Kendol Brigle, Eli Dickmann, Gauge Nester, Danny Avila-Garcia, Collan Vollmar, Devin Hoffman, and Grant Reed.
