Darrell B. Bailey (1927 – 2016)

Bailey, 89 years, of Bryan, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2016, at his residence.  Darrell was born May 21, 1927 in Cedarville, West Virginia, the son of the late Walter and Lucy Virginia (Rutherford) Bailey.  Darrell was a career Navy veteran, serving our country over 24 years, beginning in World War II through the Vietnam Era.  After his service, Darrell was an aviation consultant for the military, working with foreign countries on their planes and the operation of them.  He married Betty Jean Pasco in 1952, and she preceded him in death.  Darrell was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Bryan American Legion Post #284 and the Fleet Reserve Association.

Surviving are his two daughters, Candy Lubell of Santa Cruz, California and Cathy (Chuck) Bailey-Wilcher of Jefferson, Ohio; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; his companion, Mabel Ware of Bryan.  He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sherri Wilcher; four brothers, Harland, Roy, Doy and Wayne Bailey; six sisters, Mary Wiley, Maude Morris, Merle Crawford, Inez Roe, Maxine Minigh and Leona Rebman.

Visitation for Darrell B. Bailey will be held on Sunday, November 13, 2016 from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home-Greenisen Chapel, 225 East High Street, Bryan.  Funeral services for Darrell Bailey will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 14, 2016 in the funeral home with Pastor Ruth Carter Crist officiating.  Private interment will take place at a later date.  Military Rites will be accorded by the Bryan American Legion Post #284.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions be given to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, ATTN: Development, 875 North Randolph Street, suite 225, Arlington, Virginia 22203.
