In a recent court case at Defiance County Common Pleas Court, Michael S. Groh, a 58-year-old man from Defiance, Ohio, was handed a 20-year prison sentence.
This decision came after he was found guilty by a jury in April of committing 10 counts of gross sexual imposition, all of which are considered third-degree felonies.
Defiance County Prosecutor Morris Murray stated that Groh’s conviction stemmed from his inappropriate sexual contact with a juvenile under the age of 13 over multiple occasions from October 2014 to September 2015.
As a result of this conviction, Groh has been classified as a Tier II sex offender, requiring him to register as a sex offender for the next 25 years.
It’s worth noting that he will also receive credit for the 53 days he has already served in prison.
This case underscores the importance of addressing and addressing the issue of sexual offenses, particularly those involving minors, within our communities.
