West Unity – The Defiance Post of The Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a single vehicle fatal crash which occurred on January 19, 2018, at approximately 1:10am on County Road 17, north of County Road K, west of the village of West Unity in Williams County.
A 1996 Dodge Stratus being driven by Joseph Baldwin, age 63, of West Unity, Ohio, was northbound on County Road 17. The vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree. Mr. Baldwin was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Williams County EMS. The crash currently remains under investigation.
Assisting at the scene were the Williams County Sheriff’s office, Brady Township Fire Department and Williams County EMS.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol encourages drivers and occupants to always wear their seat belts, to never drive distracted or impaired, and to reduce speed during inclement weather.
