BRYAN (July 2, 2025) – Daytime transformed to twilight. Twilight turned to nighttime and in fact by the time this one was all over and done, most of the fast food places were even closed.

Even Cinderella would’ve been in a dead sprint to beat the chimes. However, after nine errors combined and a whopping 18 walks issued between the two teams, it was Archbold’s Isaiahs Gracia who threw a 1-2-3 seventh and then lined a base hit that scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning to give Archbold a 9-8 ACME District 1 win over Bryan.

The Bluestreaks will now play Defiance in the next round while Bryan will play Wauseon in a loser’s bracket contest.

The fielding miscues began right away in the top of the first when Jamison Longoria’s base hit to center was fumbled allowing a Bryan runner to score the games’ first run against Aranjer Krieger.

Archbold got even versus Cade Carlin in the bottom of the inning. Max Burrowes and Tripp Langenderfer singled, and after the first of 11 Bryan walks, a slow turn on a double play ball allowed Burrowes to cross the plate.

After that, both teams combined to score the next four runs without the benefit of a hit. Archbold got a pair in the second when a third strike went to the backstop, two walks and two Bryan errors, to take a 3-1 lead.

Bryan got one back in the top of the third when Krieger walked a pair and a ground ball was kicked into right field.

The Bluestreaks countered on an error, a pair of walks issued by Carlin, then with the bases juiced, reliever Jacob Uran walked Burrowes to force in a run making it 4-2.

Another Archbold error helped Bryan score a fourth inning run to slice the Streak lead to 4-3 but got two back on one hit in the fifth.

After a Bryan mistake and yet another base on balls, Collin Short rammed a double up the right center field gap off the third Golden Bear hurler Jamison Longoria, to give the Streaks a 6-3 margin.

The Bears had a big answer in the sixth. Krieger, who was fast passing the 100 pitch mark for the night, put two more Bears on base around a strikeout and Tucker Miller’s single for a bases loaded and one out situation.

John Dalrymple bounced a single to left to bring home one run and Cole Carlin painted the right field line with a two-run double to bring the Bears back to even at 6-6.

That ended the night for Krieger bringing Gracia to the hill. The first batter he faced, Hunter Watson, dropped a bunt down and when the throw home went awry, two Bryan runners crossed the dish to make it 8-6.

A walk and Krieger’s two-out, run scoring single got Archbold back to 8-7 and after Gracia set down the Golden Bears in order in the seventh, the Bluestreaks rally began on…oh yeah you guessed it…the last of the five Bryan errors.

Longoria walked the second hitter and Short’s second hit of the long night loaded the bases.

Longoria struck out the next batter, but Gracia lined a base hit to right center that more than likely would’ve scored both runners anyway, but in this game, the ball appropriately eluded the right fielder to make any kind of play at the plate a moot point.

Gracia ended up with the win on the mound, going the last 1 2/3 innings while Longoria took the loss for Bryan.
