Donald RiceDonald E. Rice, 73 years, of Bryan, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice, Defiance. Don was born April 2, 1942, in Farmer, Ohio, the son of Dale B. and Cleda M. (Dossett) Rice. He was a 1960 graduate of Fairview High School and a 1962 graduate of International Business College. He married Jane Winegardner on August 17, 1963 in Bryan, Ohio, and she survives.

Don was employed by Ohio Gas Company for 34 years as the General Manager of Customer Service and Information Systems, retiring in 2004. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, where he served as treasurer, and in many other capacities. Don was also a member of the Bryan Kiwanis Club and the Bryan City Band. In his free time, he enjoyed playing in the city band, bowling, working on his computer and doing various community services. Don cherished his time with his family and friends.

Surviving is his wife Jane; three sons, Steven (Beth) Rice of Sharon, Wisconsin, Kevin (Wendy) Rice of Angola, Indiana, and Gregory (Tricia Dau) Rice of Bowdoinham, Maine; eight grandchildren, Jessica (Jordan) Pezen, Jacob Rice, Sydney Rice, Katelyn Rice, Kennedi Rice, Alexander Dau, Thomas Dau, and Alyssa Dau; mother, Cleda Rice of Farmer, Ohio and one brother, Layel (Barbara) Rice of Farmer, Ohio. Don was preceded in death by his father, Dale Rice.

Visitation for Donald E. Rice will be held Friday, April 1, 2016, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. in Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 2, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church, Bryan, with Pastor Richard Franks officiating. Interment will follow in Shiffler Cemetery, Bryan. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Saturday.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial donations be given to First Lutheran Church, 210 North Cherry Street, Bryan, Ohio or Bryan Kiwanis Scholarship Fund.
