Dorothy E. Spiess, age 92 of Delta, peacefully passed away at Laurels of Toledo Saturday night, August 26, 2017.
She was born in McClure, OH on October 18, 1924 to John Schorling and Hazel (Sheefel) Schorling.
On January 21, 1947 she married Harold Spiess, who preceded her in death on May 10, 1985.
For over 20 years, Dorothy served as a custodian for Pike-Delta-York School system before retiring. Some of her fondest hobbies were, gardening, cooking, baking, playing bingo and most of all sewing. Dorothy was viewed by many as a very talented seamstress; performing alterations for many people and even uniforms of school athletes.
Left to cherish Dorothy’s memory are her children, Rick (Pat) Schorling of Toledo, Larry (Janet) Spiess of Delta, Gary (Kathy) Spiess of LaFollette, TN, Garold Spiess of Toledo and Harold (Sandy) Spiess of Corunna, IN; and sister, Pearl Talmage of Toledo; along with 15 loving grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren; with one on the way and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Harold; she was preceded in death by her brother, John Schorling and sisters, Virginia Kobi and Marian Kohler.
Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St Hwy 109 in Delta; where a funeral service celebrating Dorothy’s life will begin at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 30, 2017. Pastor Duane Grady will be officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Delta.
