Edgerton Gets Trees Replaced, Seeks Grant For Park Restroom Renovations

North Branch Nursery replaced 13 trees at Miller Park May 11. The original trees were planted through the ODNR Nature Works grant in 2014. The trees were under warranty and the project came at no cost to the village.

The council approved the purchase of road salt through the Ohio Department of Transportation.

The village will apply for funding through the Nature Works grant for 2016 to pay for renovations to the Miller Park concession stand restrooms to ADA standards. The application is due June 1.

Street sweepers will be in the village June 7-8. Residents are advised to remove cars, equipment and large debris from streets before then.

The village will lease 250 square feet of office space to the Edgerton Area Foundation. The foundation will take occupancy June 1.

Earth Friendly Recyclers will be in town for E Waste Recycle Day for residents June 4.


The event will be held in the back parking lot from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The company will accept many items Republic Services won’t.

Most items can be recycled for no charge.

Servers, mainframes, network hubs, terminals, laptops, docking stations, desktop computers, hard drives, tablets, flat panel computer monitors, Ni-Cad batteries, Li-ion batteries, Ni-Mh batteries, lead acid batteries, hard drives, telephones, digital cable boxes, satellite receivers and gaming consoles.

Items with a fee:
-Alkaline batteries, $1 a pound.
-Computer monitors – CRT, $7 per monitor.
-Television-CRT, $7 per television.


In other news:

-The Fire Department Blood drive will be 1-6 p.m. Thursday, May 26 at the American Red Cross Bloodmobile, 108 E. Indiana St.

-The June Jam begins at 6 p.m. at Miller Park with scheduled acts: Bekah Bradley, Brent Lowry Band, Joe Vasquez Band and Shane Runion.

-Edgerton Homecoming 2016 runs June 9-12 with garage sales, a children’s parade, a corn hole tournament, waterball tournament, Texas Hold Em, the June Jam and a car show.
