(October 2nd, 2014)-EDON: Given their 7-1 record in the Buckeye Border Conference, Edon can make for an intimidating host for league opponents. That was not the case when Fayette came to town, however.

With 12 kills apiece, Jessie Wheeler and Michaela Bates led the Lady Eagles into battle, with McKenzee Schaffner and Hannah Machacek did most of the dirty work with 44 digs and 29 assists, respectively.

Despite such efforts, Fayette fell to Edon on that day. Yet the fight they displayed was admirable, taking the Bombers to four sets on their own court.

Edon took the first game of the series in a difficult 25-17 set. The excitement of that win propelled the Edon girls to a 25-11 win. With their backs against the wall, the Lady Eagles mounted a come back, earning a game 3 victory 25-20. They couldn’t complete the rally, however, as Edon finished the match with a 25-17 win to take the match.

Kaitlin Chrisman nailed 4 aces for the Bombers, also making 7 digs and 4 kills. Nicole Newell led Edon in both kills and digs with 13 and 12 respectively. The 22 assists made by Kaela Gearhart was also a best for the Bombers on the evening.
