(February 27th, 2015) – EDON: I their last home game of the season, the junior varsity boys of Edon were unable to overcome their visitors from Fayette.

The Eagle boys swooped in for the win over the Bombers, 43-22.

With just 2 points in the first period, the Bomber boys got off to a disastrous start. Their defense was able to keep Fayette from putting the contest away early, however, as they were able to hold the potent Eagle offense to 8 points in the opening quarter. The hometown boys of Edon couldn’t keep that up, though, as they gave up 15 points in the second frame. On the other end of the floor, the Bombers added only 6 points to their collective score.

Going into the locker room, Edon faced a 23-8 deficit.

Thought they had a solid lead at the start of the third quarter, the visitors from Fulton County were unable to completely shake off the Bombers on their trail. Their 9 point effort in the period was matched with an 8 point one on the part of Edon. Yet the young Eagle boys were able to deliver the knockout punch in the final period of the game. They outscored their hosts 11-6 to close out the contest, securing the 21 point victory.

Freshman Grant Reinking led all scorers with 14 points. His teammate, Karrigen Schaffner contributed 7 points to the Eagle win.

For the Bombers Blake Thiel had a big night on the inside. He put up 12 points against the Fayette defense. Tyler Frantom, his junior cohort, added 6 points in the loss.
