The Village of Edon Council convened for its regular monthly meeting on December 15, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. in the village offices.

The agenda included routine reports, old business, and preparations for upcoming community events.

In attendance were council members David Loughborough, Jeff Pease, Austin Thiel, Lee Lawrence, Dan Ankney, and Brian Shaffer; Mayor Duane Thiel; Village Administrator Chad Ordway; Fiscal Officer Heidi Bidwell; Police Chief Tom Szymczak; and SRO Monica Goebel.

The meeting began promptly after the Pledge of Allegiance with standard procedures. A motion to approve the previous minutes was made by Shaffer and seconded by Ankney.

Fiscal Officer Bidwell presented the financial report and bills for payment. A motion to pay the bills was made by Lawrence and seconded by Pease.

Mayor Thiel reported that village offices will be closed December 25-26 for Christmas and January 1 for New Year’s Day.

Committee reports were brief, with no updates from Safety, Park, Cemetery, Finance, or Zoning.

In the police report, Chief Szymczak commented that the department would receive its new vehicle on December 23 after he travels to Missouri to pick it up.

He also reported that newly sworn-in officer Octovia Rolf was starting field training and riding along with him.

SRO Monica Goebel addressed the council, sharing how much she enjoys her position at Edon Schools.

Village Administrator Ordway provided his report that under old business, the council conducted the third and final reading of Ordinance 06-25, which officially changes the name of Woodville Street to Toner Drive, honoring the Toner family. The motion was approved by Lawrence and seconded by Pease.

For new business, the annual Christmas party was set for December 19, including a Christmas bonus for village employees. The motion was approved by Lawrence and seconded by Ankney.

A motion for executive session to discuss economic development was made by Shaffer and seconded by Lawrence.

The meeting adjourned at approximately 7:30 p.m. The next Village of Edon Council meeting will be held on January 19, 2026, at 7:00 p.m.
