Edon Wins Fremont Invitational

(September 13th, 2014)-FREMONT, IN: The Lady Bombers of Edon defeated three teams on Saturday, improving their record to 8-3 and winning the Fremont Invitational.

The girls of Edon first faced off against Canterbury. Game 1 saw Edon claim victory 25-22. The second set was a bit easier for the Bombers, who won 25-15. A third, shorter set was played, and Edon took it 15-13.

Alex Keiss recorded 5 kills for the Lady Bombers, while Nicole Newell had 4 kills. Kaitlin Chrisman also had 4 kills, but had 3 aces as well.

Match 2 was a rematch from earlier in the season, as the Bombers of Edon took on Hamilton. Edon defeated the Marines in straight sets, 25-19 and 25-18.

Newell had 7 kills for Edon. Kiess nailed 5 kills herself. Hannah Kaylor made 2 aces.


The final match for the Lady Bombers was against hosting team Fremont. This was their toughest battle of the day. Edon dropped the first set 17-25. They came back strong in game 2 to win 25-19. A decisive game 3 saw the Bombers win 15-8.

Newell again led the Lady Bombers in kills with 13. Kaitlyn Sonneberger had 3 kills. Kiess hit 3 aces.
